Did you ever see a raku firing? When we open the kiln, it is red hot. But, with the correct amount of burning organic matter and oxygen, the turquoise blues and greens appear. As a bonus, there are flashings of copper at the bottom. I love this free form shape--it reminds me of a pregnant woman. Can we call it "New Life"?
Please note: Raku pottery is never waterproof or food safe. It is purely decorative. If you wish to use this vase for flowers, please put the stems and water in a Ziploc bag and zip it closed as far as possible before inserting it into the vase.
