This thrown and altered raku urn is glazed in a white crackle glaze. Pieces that are thrown on a wheel are generally symmetrical. Yet, for this vessel, I purposefully distorted the symmetry, making indented lines with my thumb as I finished the piece. Then, while it was still wet, I reached inside and pushed out the sections in between each indented line. The asymmetry of this form as well as the weeping cobalt lines and rough stone finial are elements that help express our feeling upon the loss of a loved one. This urn is approximately 12' to top of finial and will hold a minimum of 200 cubic inches.
