The blue rose on this serving tray is not painted, nor is it a decal. If you look carefully, you can see that each petal is formed from many layers. The layers run from very light blue to the rich turquoise blue color. This ombre was created by mixing white porcelain with the turquoise. The different colors are cut and combined in many steps until they eventually form a flower. This process takes at least two hours. Once the flower pattern is created, it must be allowed to rest so the many different pieces meld. only then can I begin to create the tray into which I will inlay the rose.
This tray is approximately 13" x 7".
