Can you believe this vase has the exact same glaze on both sides? That is the magic of raku and here you see what in kiln reduction can do. On the turquoise side, the glaze has mostly oxidized with flashings of copper. On the greener, more lustered side, the kiln created a mini environment that was oxygen deprived. Maybe this somehow represents life--sometimes we don't think about breathing. The oxygen is just there. And at other times, breathing is harder, we struggle. And a real bonus on the reduced side-clearly preserved fire in the pattern on the glaze. That is NOT a different glaze in the middle. It is the flame of the raku firing leaving its mark. This vase is approximately 12.5" tall, 11" wide, and 2.5" deep.
Please not that raku wear is NEVER food safe or water proof. If you want to add flowers, use dried or put the stems in a ziplock bag with water and zip the bag closed as far as possible.
